Kara Photos

Hi! I'm Kara Fuhlbrugge (Fuel-brug-ee). I am a graphic designer and art director with 13 years of professional experience. I am driven to create purposeful design that's meaningful to the world we live in.

History

At a young age, my mom provided me with blank paper in lieu of coloring books because she didn't want to stunt my imagination. (I think it worked, because both my sister and I pursued a career in design.) I went on to earn my bachelor's degree in Graphic Design from Iowa State University. I've designed for consumer products, advertising, small business and nonprofit.

You can currently find me at the Austin Theatre Alliance, designing all the things for the Paramount Theatre, Stateside Theatre, Moontower Comedy Festival, Paramount Film Institute, and Paramount Academy for the Arts.

How I Work

People tell me that I have great ideas, which is nice, but I also have a well-established methodology. I enjoy the process of brainstorming, research, sketching and development. I've worked with many types of clients and brands, and adapt my style to their individual needs. My favorite designs tend to look simple and bold with a touch of whimsy or humor. Good time management, organization and impeccable editing are essential.
